Masked Agent Upgrade

So, lets talk generic Ten Thunder upgrade card. Masked agent is a plentiful two upgrade for the Ten Thunders. What it is, is an awesome counter into resistance triggers on models. There are a lot of models (especially masters) in the game who rely on their resistance triggers to keep them alive. In M3e you know the master you’re facing into during crew selection, so here are the breakdown of which masters have resistance triggers.

Arcanists

Kaeris – Ignite (T) Df/Wp : After Resolving attacker gains burning +1
Colette – Fade Away (T) Df/Wp : When resolving reduce damage by 2 then bury
Ironsides – Good Shot (T) Df: After Resolving, gain Adrenaline token. If Melee attacker suffers 2/3/5

Bayou

Zoraida – Regret (M) Df: After resolving if melee and took damage end attackers activation
Zipp – Blasting Off (M) Df: After resolving place within 6”
Ophelia – Quick Draw (M) Df: After succeeding If gun action attacker suffers 2/4/5 [-] to flip
Som’er – Squeal (M) Df: After Resolving move up to 3”
BrewMaster – You’re Drunk (M) Df: After succeeding push attacking model X”  (X= 3+poison on attacker)
Wong – Quick Getaway (M) Df: After resolving push this model 5” any direction

Guild

Lady Justice – Counterattack (M) Df: After succeeding If Melee, attacker suffers 3/4/5 [-] to flip
Cornelius Basse – Tangled in Briars (C) Df: After resolving, push this model 2” If Melee and attacker within 2” of serve terrain end activation
Nellie – Squeal (M) Df: After Resolving move up to 3”
Perdita – Quick Draw (M) Df: After succeeding If gun action attacker suffers 2/4/5 [-] to flip
Sonia Cridd – Ignite (T) Df/Wp : After Resolving attacker gains burning +1

Neverborn

Zoraida – Regret (M) Df: After resolving if melee and took damage end attackers activation
Euripides – Future Sight (T) Df/Wp: After succeeding Name a suit, attacker reveals control hand discards named suit.
Lilith – Disappear (M) Df: After succeeding +2 Df until end of this activation
Nekima – Spite (C) Df/Wp: After resolving, If attacker cheated fate, draw a card
Pandora – Dark Thought (M) Df/Wp: After resolving, attacker gains stunned

Outcasts

Zipp – Blasting Off (M) Df: After resolving place within 6”
Levi – Unmade (T) Df/Wp: After resolving, attacker suffers 1 irreducible damage
Tara – Through the hole (M) Df: Immediately, gun attack fails

Ressers

Albus Von Schtook – Disarming (C) Df/Wp: When resolving, if attacker didn’t declare trigger -2 damage

Ten Thunders

None

Unless they state differently in the description, resistance triggers occur only after succeeding. So the like of Lilith and Perdita only get their trigger if they beat the attack. I’ve added the italic timing for a reminder.

If you’re facing one of these masters I’d consider adding the masked agent upgrade to your beaters, especially if the trigger will reduce the attackers ability to kill it’s target, such as Zipp, Zoraida or Colette who prevent damage or additional attacks.

Later on I want to flesh out which none master models have resistance triggers by keyword, but that’s going to be a bigger piece of work.

The upgrade also gives another couple of useful abilities. The With Me abilities gives efficiency in movement to a melee crew, allowing a model to bring a friend with it into the fight.
If its a minion it even allows it’s friend to have a swing, especially useful on the beater minions the Ten Thunders have.

Overall I think Masked Agent is the most powerful of the three upgrades the Ten Thunders can take and when played into the right crews will really shut down or hamper their masters, who previously felt save behind their trigger but now realise they can’t operate as normal in the face of potential two beaters who can hunt them down a lot easier.

So this is a new blog for me, I’d appreciate any feedback, comments or suggestions on future content. I’m off to my first M3e tournament this weekend, so I expect some form of recap or write up of it will be posted. Just need to find a game recap format that isn’t too boring to read.
